CJ Olson, CMHC

CJ earned his bachelors in psychology from Weber State University and his masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College. CJ started his career as a therapist working primarily with individuals struggling with substance abuse, though he also has experience working with children and youth in inpatient and residential psychiatric settings.

CJ works with individuals managing depression and/or anxiety, and has experience helping individuals struggling with addictive behaviors. He is also skilled in anger management, self-esteem, stress management and coping skills. CJ utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and REBT in his work as a therapist. CJ focuses on building strong therapeutic relationships with his clients and works to create a therapy space that is free from judgement , allowing individuals to feel comfortable and understood.

I know therapists often promote self-care, but I find it important to not only promote it, but to ensure that I practice it in my personal life as well. I spend a lot of my free time with my children, but when I have time to myself, I try and get outdoors and go fishing whenever possible. Whether I catch something or not, I find it incredibly peaceful just being out in nature. When I am unable to get out, I enjoy reading, listening to good music, or watching movies. I love to learn and believe every person I meet knows something I don't, so I do my best every day to try and learn something new. I love the work I do and the wonderful team of clinicians I get to work with and learn from, and hope that I can play a small part in helping to better the lives of those around me.
